How SGFI is changing the sporting landscape in India

School Games Federation of India (S.G.F.I) is the apex national body governing sports and physical education in schools in India. It envisions to provide a robust, vibrant and holistic physical education & school sports activity that will engender excellence in the school sports sector in India.

In the last 10 years S.G.F.I has brought about a remarkable change in its functioning with regards to improvement in the standard of competition and the way sporting events are organised across the country. The planning of the events are done a couple of months beforehand and the execution is being done professionally under expert leadership.

Our founder, Mr Yash Bhalawala was appointed as the Team Manager for the U-14 Badminton All India CBSE (WSO) Games. He had an enriching experience being with the team. Apart from the sheer talent that he noticed among the young athletes, he was mightily impressed by the way the SGFI has been functioning. The SGFI has been working hard and for the development of school sports in the country and the number of international stars coming through the ranks is a testament of the same.

The Federation commits itself to provide quality physical education to promote healthy competition, social and cultural vivacity amongst athletes. S.G.F.I. is also committed to developing the character & personality amongst the school athletes. Through coaching, training and championships S.G.F.I. commits itself to create an environment which will empower the future youngsters to become global leaders in the emerging sports world.

S.G.F.I has also been instrumental in conducting various international level tournaments and recently they had conducted the 6th Asian School Games (Table Tennis) Championship in Baroda which was for the U-17 age group. There are various other international tournaments in the pipeline which will be hosted by S.G.F.I. One of them being the International 3×3 Basketball School Games which will be held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

S.G.F.I. commits itself to conduct transparent & healthy competition amongst the school athletes for the physical welfare of school athletes by providing them continuous training through coaching camp and comprehensive evaluation through tournaments. S.G.F.I. envisions creating DOPE-free and harassment-free playing environment so that the athletes would become a competent, confident and responsible citizen to promote peace, harmony, national integration and unity in the nation through sports.
